Messages and calls nobody else can open.
A complete messenger inside Reverbot — one-to-one and group chats, photos, voice notes and files, voice and video calls, video meetings and screen sharing — encrypted end to end on your own phone. Not even Reverbot can read a word you write or hear a word you say. And when something is deleted, it is gone for good.
Two promises, on the first screen of Chat
Deleted is gone for good
UnrecoverableDelete a message, or let it disappear, and it is erased from your iPhone’s storage — not hidden, not moved, not kept in a backup. Every single time, Chat leaves a line where it was: “Permanently erased · Unrecoverable”, shown only once the wiping is done.
Calls stay between you
EncryptedVoice calls, video calls, meetings and shared screens are encrypted on the phones in the call. Reverbot can’t hear or see them — and nobody is ever recorded without agreeing first.
End-to-end encrypted, the way Signal does it
- The Signal protocol. Chat is built on X3DH, the Double Ratchet and Sender Keys — the encryption design Signal and WhatsApp use. A message is locked on your phone before it leaves and unlocked only on the phones of the people in the chat.
- Keys that never leave your phone. The keys that open your messages are made on your iPhone and stay there. Each message’s key is used once and destroyed, so a copy of an old message can’t be opened later — by Reverbot or by anyone.
- Nothing readable on our servers. Reverbot’s server only ever holds sealed envelopes it cannot open, and deletes each one the moment it’s delivered — or after 30 days if it never is.
- Photos, voice notes and files, sealed first. Each is encrypted on your iPhone with a key of its own, which travels only inside the chat’s encryption, before it’s uploaded — up to 25 MB. The server keeps just that sealed copy, which it can’t open, for 30 days — or deletes it at once when you delete it for everyone. Photos go without their location.
- Know who you’re talking to. Safety numbers let two people compare a number, or scan a code, to be sure nobody is in between. If someone’s number changes, Chat tells you, and nothing goes to them until you accept it.
Gone means gone
- Disappearing messages, from 30 seconds to 4 weeks, for everyone in the chat. When the time is up, the message is deleted from every phone in it — deleted, not hidden.
- Delete for everyone erases your message — its words, or its photo, voice note or file — from every phone in the chat, within a day of sending it.
- Wiped from storage, not just the screen. Whatever is deleted, or disappears, is scrubbed from Chat’s storage file on your iPhone — and the line left in its place says Unrecoverable once it is.
- Clear a chat or delete it and the same holds for every message in it.
Nothing left lying around
- Protected storage. Your chats are kept in protected storage that can’t be opened while your iPhone is locked — once Reverbot has it open, as it does whenever you use the app, it stays readable until Reverbot is closed, so messages and calls keep working — and never go into iCloud or computer backups.
- Silent notifications. A new message’s notification says “New message” — never who it’s from, never what it says.
- A lock in the app switcher. The app switcher shows a lock, never your chats, your calls or anything opened from them.
- A clipboard that forgets. Copy puts a message on this iPhone’s clipboard only — not your other devices’ — and a disappearing message leaves the clipboard when it leaves the chat.
- Your call history, yours. Recent calls are kept on your iPhone only, out of backups, and out of the Phone app’s Recents unless you switch that on.
Voice and video calls, meetings and screen sharing
- Call anyone you chat with, by voice or video, from the top of any chat — or call a friend and start a video meeting from the Calls tab.
- Share your screen with everyone in a call or meeting.
- Up to 8 people on video, you included — a bigger group talks by voice.
- Encrypted on the phones in the call. Sound, video and shared screens are sealed before they leave each phone, so the servers that pass them on can’t hear or see them. Reverbot’s own servers never carry, record or keep a call’s sound, video or shared screens.
- On your own account. Calls run on the Cloudflare account of whoever starts them — yours, when you do — which is free for about 600 hours of one-to-one video a month. People who join pay nothing, and nobody else holds your calls.
Find your friends — privately
- Your contacts stay yours. Only if you choose to, and after iOS asks, Chat checks which of your contacts use Reverbot by sending scrambled hashes of their numbers — never stored, never logged.
- Findable only if you say so. Nobody can find you by your number unless you switch that on.
- Nobody is invited for you. An invitation goes only when you tap Invite and send the text yourself.
What no app can stop
Anyone in a chat or call can still take a screenshot, copy a message, or record with another device before something disappears. No app can prevent that — we’d rather tell you than pretend.
